Announcement

In a joint effort between Plaza Las Americas Fairs and Exhibits Department, headed by Ms. Sarah H. de Colomer, Luis Mariano Muñoz of AutosClasicoseHistoricos.com, Kat Kare Body and Restoration Shop and Dr. Norman and the Volkswagen Museum of Puerto Rico, Dean Kirsten, Technical Editor of the most important Volkswagen magazine in the United States, “Hot VWs”, will travel to San Juan to participate in the Flower Power event at Plaza and visit the world’s largest private Volkswagen collection in the world in Yauco.

The special week will kick-off on Monday April 19, when Plaza Las Americas opens its doors to VW and Porsche fans, who will be treated to the largest VW-Porsche show ever held inside a shopping mall. The event will present over 100 vehicles from both marquees, ranging in years from the 1940’s to date.

Dr. Norman and the Volkswagen Museum of Puerto Rico will present several of his prized vehicles, joined by the best Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Type 2 collection ever assembled in the island. From the Porsche side, the quality will only be paired by the quantity, displaying a half a dozen 356’s, including a rare Karmann Hardtop; two Spyder 550’s, a 912, and a full line of 911 from the sixties to the latest models presented by Garage Europa/Gomez Hermanos Kennedy from San Juan.

The event will be dedicated to the lifetime achievement of the internationally known Diego Febles, a local hero who has raced both Volkswagens and Porsches for nearly six decades. Both the legendary “El Guineo” drag race car and a replica of the #58 Brumos Porsche that Diego raced will be displayed at the center atrium.
